My first intaglio necklace.

Hand engraved amber set with a very thick hammered bezel frame in sterling silver.
Made for a customer to be given to her mother-in-law, a Berber woman. Wow. No pressure.

I tried to make it contemporary and solid and still use some of the traditional Berber jewelry as inspiration.

Awww! It would be an honor.
I do make these and I am just getting started with this technique. If you have a look at my most recent journal, or even better, my Intaglio gallery (folder at the bottom of my general gallery) you can see some samples of what i can do. ;)

It's a natural baltic amber cabochon. hardness 2-2.5 on the Mohs scale, where Diamond is a 10.

Thank you so much for taking an interest in my Crafts! :)

Thank you for the answer! :iconflowerheartplz: First of all I thought it's a dried real rose covered by amber-like resin :D So this is a reverse engraving? And you do it by hand? :wow: You have golden hands then

If you check my latest journal I got an entry where I tell the background to what it is and how I do it, along with the progress I made!

It's done with a small hand tool (milling machine)with tiny exhangeable bits. (Dremel like) It's done from the backside where you push the tool in, cut out bits from the back and check the front for what's going on! :)

Here is the entry, if you're interested:
