I keep working with my reverse engraving experiments!
This time a dark cognac tinted piece of assembled amber.
Since amber is an organic resin it can be melted or even burned. This is used in order to put little insects in the pieces or make them more desirable in general. Many pieces of "natural" amber is really assembled and pressed into molds. Usually the price is a giveaway but nearly all amber that's sold today has been manipulated in some way.
Anyway, decided to try an idea for a rising phoenix on this rather dark piece.
